Taken it? Not orally, but IV.
Given it? Yes, lots of times.
Omnipaque (or "Omni") was the high-end expensive drug when I was working in the field. Most patients got IV Conray, but those with a history of rxn's got IV Omni. Back then, you often had to justify it's expense to the insurer. It's also a lot more pleasant, it does not burn as bad as Conray.
It's a nonionic contrast agent, and has a much lower incidence of reactions than the cheaper ones. I don't remember an oral Omnipaque...I think it may have had a different name at the time.
But it's been around for a long time and AFAIK was always the premium product. Unless you have a history of rxn's to contrast agents, I would not worry. And if you did, this is what I would have given you....
