Hello!.....I am an RN in an internal medicine Drs office...ran into something that I nor my Dr has EVER heard of.....we had a pt in last week complaining of "heartburn" she was sent for an upper GI and then had an esophagram (sp?), we got results back today and it showed 1)" a small hiatal hernia with significant reflux", and get this! 2) "degenerative changes in cervical vertebra 5 and 6 causing apparent pressure and subsequent deviation of the esophagus".....sooo, she's got bad arthritic changes in her neck that are sooo bad they're shifting her esophagus?!?!....this is a new one!!....anybody heard of this before?? and if so, what was done for it????.....I set her up with a GI consult to see what our GI guy thinks, I guess we'll see what he says.
