Post endo soreness-Advice please-

Hoping someone with knowledge/experience can offer some advice here.
I underwent an endoscopy yesterday, (Tuesday in Australia), and I've got a sore throat now. I'm guessing it's due to the scope being passed down. Am I correct in this assumption? Also, after I swallow, I'm finding a sensation, ( I call it that as it's not exactly a pain as such), in the mid oesophagus. Is this also to be expected? I'm guessing it all is, but am probably just needing confirmation.

THey took a biopsy which proved negative, thankfully. The main revelation is that the duodenum is inflamed. Has any Endo nurses had experience with this, and would you be willing to share what you know, please?

Thanks in anticipation.................

Re: Post endo soreness-Advice please-

Sore throat is normal after that procedure because of the scope. Typically the docs use K-Y jelly to lube the scope first, but that still doesn't totally prevent soreness.

As long as it's not contraindicated, drink some warm herbal tea with honey, and lay off tortilla chips (hard crunchy stuff) and salsa (hot spicy stuff) until the soreness is gone.

As for the 'sensation,' it's kinda hard to say what that is, since it's hard to describe, as you pointed out.

Duodenitis (technical term for duodenum inflammation) is usually medically treated the same as peptic ulcers, since the cause for duodenitis are usually the same as peptic ulcers.

Hi,

Sorry to here you are not feeling well; however it is against TOS for members of Allnurses.com to give out medical advice. I do hope you feel better.

Re: Post endo soreness-Advice please-

Thanks Marie, for sharing what you know As opposed to giving me advice!

swtooth, Thanks for your well wishes, I appreciate them. I realise I wrote as the subject -Advice please. An inaccurate subject title, my mistake. I was actually stating my experience and really more or less seeking validation that I was correct in my assumption. I know that members cannot give medical advice as part of the TOS, and would never seek to compromise myself or another member by violating those TOS.
I certainly hope I have not done so on this occasion.

Anyway, I've validated my assumption as being correct this afternoon when I visited my GP on another matter and sought her input. So, no need for any further responses to this thread.

Thanks anyway.
With respect .......
Grace
