New prep for colonoscopy?

Hi all,
I'm a telephone triage nurse.
I just recieved a call from a woman saying she was getting the new prep for colonoscopy.
She says she is supposed to drink clear liquids until the test. (no enemas)
She said tonight and in the morning she drinks one glass of normal saline and another in the morning.
She says no, they don't give you that whole gallon of Golytely anymore.
I'm confused.
This is news to me.
I'd like some clarification. Thanks!

Re: New prep for colonoscopy?

There is a "Fleets Phospho-soda oral saline laxative" bowel prep. One bottle is about 45mls, and for a bowel prep the patient will need two bottles, seperated by about 10 hours. The patient can drink it undiluted as long as they drink alot of other clear liquids to prevent dehydration, or it can be mixed with clear liquids. It is alot less fluid than golytely, and seems to work pretty well.

Re: New prep for colonoscopy?

Does the patient mean the two 1.5oz Fleet Phos instead of saline to drink? This is no new prep we use it all the time.
