question for ICU nurses

Next Week I start my preceptorship in the ICU unit. I am happy as well as nervous. I wanted to be prepared for the skills I need to know that are frequently needed in an ICU. Can anyone help me in giving me guidance as to what is the best way to prepare for working in an ICU unit?
Any help is appreciated.

You might want to ask this question on one or more of the Critical Care Nursing Forums on allnurses (http://allnurses.com/forums/f5/). You should also find weblinks in the sticky threads on those forums as well, particularly if you want links to information on EKGs.
