How do Doctors and Nurses enhance their teamwork??

Hi! I am on a really unique clinical placement at present, in which I have to work with other students from other fields like OT and student Doctors, just wondering if any nurses out there could possibly give me some ideas on how to enhance teamwork with the doctors etc, we have literally been thrown onto this ward and the students are more or less responsible for the daily planning of care for all the patients, I am not too familiar with how doctors and nurses can enhance team work between each other as ive never been put in this situation before, any ideas would be much appreciated!!

Start by saying "Hi! I'm Shane, one of the nurses. Tell me what it is that you are going to be doing." Ask questions of these different people and find out what their basic role is. Ask what you can do to help them. Tell them what it is that your role is and the things you have to accomplish. If you think of things that two of you can do to make things work to the betterment of you both, then suggest them. Teamwork starts with opening dialogue with other people and making an attempt to understand their position. Then, it's a lot of compromise and giving. Not much different than two people trying to make a marriage work; or, two roommates trying to make a living situation work. You have to be knowledgeable of what each does and be respectful and caring of each other. Make sense? It's kind of like, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. The trust develops slowly at first, but once you get it going, you have a solid relationship established.
