I was wondering if any current nurses could help me come up with a topic for my next term paper. We are to chose problem that is considered an ethical issues in nursing and present a research study (identify the sample, criteria for feasiblity). We also have to Identify and discuss the ethical considerations of conducting our research study, determine whether the population we selected to use is a "vulnerable population," explain the consent process and how we plan to protect our subjects. We have to include at least 2 research articles (one being a nursing research article) related to the problem. Then we have to explain why and how studying this problem has the potential to contribute information to the scientific body of nursing knowledge.

Some ideas I have been throwing around are: nurse to patient ratios and time management, and the use of side rails as restraints

Are there any issues that come to mind that maybe you see in the hospital setting that I could use as a topic to conduct a research study? The whole ethical thing seems to confuse me, and my mind is completely blank. Thanks for your help
