I keep seeing a lot of talk about the math involved with the semester testing & am starting to wonder if I should retake a math? When originally in school I took college alegebra & made an A but that was at least 10 years ago & I definitely don't use it in my everyday life. I'm thinking maybe a refresher course would do me some good. It wouldn't even need it to be one I took for actual credit - maybe just something online? Anyone have any suggestions as to which math would help me the most? I know the app says they will take math 100 or math 116 - are those two classes basically the same? Thanks in advance!!

I'm not sure about taking a math course, but I would definately check out a book called Clinical Calculations With Applications to General and Specialty Areas by Kee/Marshall. Saunders puts it out and it's a really good book for nursing drug calculations. We used it 1st semester and still use it in 3rd. It's easy to understand and you can work it through at your pace. Hope this helps

howsoon. . .every college titles their courses differently. Math 100 and Math 116 at your college may be titled something very different at many other colleges.

Basic Algebra, Principles of Algebra or what might be called Algebra I in many colleges is all you need. If you made it through College Algebra which requires Intermediate Algebra and Geometry at the least as prerequisites, I'm betting you haven't forgotten basic algebra. I was scared to death of the math!!
but it really wasn't that bad once I got over the anxiety of it.

I don't think you need to repeat a whole college math course to manage it.

You obviously have done well in math in the past, so I wouldn't worry too much. You could do it on your own.

My program recommended a dosage calculations book for us to use and had one lecture as an overview, but we had to do the rest on our own.
We used "Dosage Calculations- a ratio and proportions approach" . (I think it is by G.Pickar, Thompson Delmar Learning).
There are also some practice tests online somewhere I think, could be from UCSF)

Jeff State uses Calculating with Confidence. I would go ahead and get the book and start working on it as they really dont teach you it. Best of Luck!
