I just wanted to thank all of you nurses for doing what you do!! I'm an undergrad at Univ. of Denver and will be applying to nursing school(s) over the next year (I grad Summer 2007). I have been totally inspired by all of the nurses that I've had in my life time...I spent a great deal of the first 5 years of my life at Children's in Denver and have had a few minor procedures in the past few years as well (unrelated to previous health problems).
As I've explained to many in the past, it's the nurses faces I remember...pretty darn good considering how small I was! I couldnt pick out a doctor if I tried, but give me a handful of nurses and I bet I could pick out a few that have taken care of me. And the funny thing is, when I remember my nurses, I only remember them coming in and talking to me and making me feel comfortable. When I remember doctors, I remember them bugging me when I just wanted to sleep...or I remember them throwing questions at me that I'd answered a billion times....all I wanna say is "Just talk to the nurse...she knows it all...stop wasting your time".
You certainly make wonderful, positive impressions upon patients - even the smallest ones - and even when their world is crazy and they're not quite sure how to take everything in. So, thank you from me!
