My New Adventure In Nursing

I began my nursing carreer a the age of 20 wirh an ADN. I worked med-surg areas for 5 yrs. Then I went to OB nursing. So from 1981 until now I have been in OB. First I spent 9 yrs in postpartum, then 16 yrs in L/D and now the past year in management on antepartum High Risk OBunit with 30 beds. Now one would think that my life has been busy enough. Well now I'm about to go to a new level--college again. I'm going to go back and get my BSN through a program at work. It has been 31 yrs since I went to school. I'm a bit nervous. So please pray for me, please.

Thanks

With all of the expertise that you have up under your belt, I don't think that you have anything to worry about. It's obvious that you have proven yourself to be competent. If I were you I wouldn't worry because you will do just fine. You deserve a pat on the back for having the courage to go back to school and further your education. The best of luck to you!

I don't have nearly the experience you do & I'm only a year out of my ASN program, but I'll be right there with you! I'm starting back this fall for my BSN. Best wishes to you!

How wonderful! You will really like school. BTW have you considered an NP program after that? Your experience would invaluable. Think about it.

Re: My New Adventure In Nursing

Well I got my papers over the weekend about my first class( the syllabus,pre-assignment and orientation). Homework before class starts. It's been 31 years and will take some getting use to. I'm really nervous and excited. The starting day is Sept. 5th. I 've ordered my books. Now I need to get myself in learning mode.

:studyowl:Well today was my first day back to school after 31 yrs. It was an orientation session. When the guy talked about the library on line and where you could find what, I was over-whelmed. I wasn't even sure what the different sites were. I know that on day this will seem easier. I could really use the prayers now to help with the transition. I really want this to work.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got an A in my first nursing class in 31 years. I was excited and surprised. I just wanted to brag.
