Post I had an article published last yr in LPN AND...

Hello!
I wanted to share that while nursing is a great passion for me.. I also have a great passion for writing and I've been blessed to be able to combine the two!

I had an article published last year in LPN2006's Nov/Dec issue called 'A different kind of patient care'. it's in the practical matters dept of the mag.

They asked me to write a CEU article on End of Life Care, which is under review right now and hopefully, unless they just think it stinks will be published in a short time in Nursing Made Incredibly Easy! the ! is part of the name, although I AM excited about it!

I got a prosposal email from the same family of publishers to write an article on Type 2 Diabetes.. THAT one isn't even due till NEXT may and scheduled to be out in NOV in LPN2008 mag.

I just wanted to share this with other nurses and make it clear that to GOD above I give all the credit.

If there's anyone out there who is an expert OR novice on the subject.. Type 2 Diabetes that is.. I'm interested in sending you a series of questions through email.

and ohhh.. it's good to be back in the forums.. had gotten away for a while.

God Bless
Connie Allen, LPN

Congratulations!!! I love writing too, and plan to make use of it after nursing school. I want to get a BA in English with a creative writing focus. Did you go to school for writing? Either way I'm excited to see that there are others out there doing it! Thanks for sharing.

Connie,
I am excited for you that you have some articles being published! That's quite an honor!

I'm afraid I can't give you much advice on the nursing end--I start school to be an LPN in 2 weeks; However, I did have some things published in my "prior" life as a school teacher. I'm glad to know that perhaps I can use my writing abilities in my next life, too!

Congratulations, again!
Laurel

Re: I had an article published last yr in LPN AND...

Big congrats!!! You are doing exactly what I hope to do once I have some experience under my belt! I graduate in August and have already co-authored an article with one of my instructors that was published in American Nurse Today (ANA publication).

Do you still do bedside nursing? If so, is it hard to balance the two? I hope to use my God-given talents in writing, but I do not want to give up nursing at the bedside. How much experience do you think a nurse needs before she has enough "street cred" to start submitting articles for publication? Thanks for the advice, congrats again and good luck!

Congratulations, Connie! What a wonderful gift to have, the gift of being able to express oneself freely and professionally with words
