An amazing report from the San Luis Obispo Tribune details the story of a 35-year-old tourist from Taiwan, Yun Chang Chung -- who suffered severe heart problems while traveling on an Amtrak train through California -- and the heroic efforts of a young Taiwanese/American nurse, Bianca Lin, who became his "guardian angel" during the long and harrowing aftermath.
Yun Chang Chung's heart stopped twice at the hospital, and he was on life support part of the time the facility's staff cared for him.
"From the very beginning," Lin said, "the doctors, social workers and nurses went the extra mile for him."
The flight was also the final act of devotion for Lin, a 28-year nurse and native of Taiwan, who formed an unusual bond with the man hospital staff called a miracle patient.
"You always try to do your best as a nurse, but this case is so special," Lin said. "We struck a chord."
