Hi... Is there any Filipino nurses here who wants to share your success, hardship, duty, adjustment stories?

I'm not Filipino, but 30 years ago the hospital hired 20 filipino nurses. About 10 are still there. Two are nurse managers, one is a nurse educator, 4 are charge nurses. Their impact on our facility is quite positive and was definately worth the investment.

I dont wanna come off the wrong way but what is so special about a Filipino nurse. An achievement is an achievement! It should not matter white, black, hispanic, asian, hatian, or filipino. Anyway if the sucess of a Filipino nurses helps you to be the best nurse that you can be then thats all that matters.

A girl that I went to school with (filipino nurse) did really well in school but she did not pass the NCLEX the 1st time. She went through alot shame because the school had 100% pass rate. She she was one of the few that didnt pass and it was not expected of her. She took the test over and now she is a nurse. She is happy and loving her job.

Yes an achievement is an achievement, but it feels good to say that your fellow Filipino did this and attain that.... I'm proud of other nurses from different nationality but then it feels really different when you see that she/he is a Filipino. A very different feeling that I can't explain!

Hi lenjoy03... I could see that you are really interested in knowing the success stories of our fellow Filipinos here in America. It is good that your still proud to be called a Filipino. When I first got here in America, I was filled with pride knowing our country is one of the leading exporters of "good" nurses. Infact, when I got here i enrolled right away to become an LVN (I wanna join the success stories!). Unfortunately, as soon as I did my clinicals, I saw how different filipino nurses here as compared to our nurses back home. The timid, down-to-earth personality and very caring attitude was nowhere to be found . Yes... once in a while you will see a glimpse of a "genuine" filipino nurse. But oftentimes, your left with rude, pompous and arrogant ones. I really do not know why the "green" bucks changed them. When your around them it is always about the cars, the houses, the vecations... on and on about how successful they are ... to top it off, once you meet their kids (oh here we go) your bound to be dissapointed... these kids thinks so highly of themselves like their born of royal blood . None of them speaks tagalog or even try to understand it... how come chinese and latinos were able to teach their children?! ...

Ahh... this last one... a real heartache... what happened to our "filipino" morals?!... anywhere I looked I saw infidelities and broken marriages, nevermind the men (sad to say filipino men are really mischevious) but the flilipinas...hmm... how many men does it take (or even married men) before they settled down? The worst part is that they even get involved with married "filipino" men (who eventually leaves their families in the Philippines)... too much?! ... but it's true!

I know this doesn't only happen to filipinos but for people who thinks so highly of themselves...c'mon... who are we kidding?!!!...

Success stories... yes there's lots of it here in the "Land of the Free"... but if we looked closely... we might not want what we see after all.
