Re: CNA-Rags to CNA-Ritches

Thank you! You hit the nail on the head. The greatest gift from all this is that I was given an opportunity to fulfill a life long dream so that I make a difference in so many lives in the capacity of a nurse.

Re: CNA-Rags to CNA-Ritches

Your story reminded me of my mother when she was working as a home nursing aid for an old man many years ago. Being a compassionate and committed lady as she has always been, the man wanted to show his appreciation by giving my mother a simple house. My dad was dying and with 6 kids to support, he cldnt afford to buy us a home. We were hvg a hard time living with my maternal grandmother and hearing about my mother's hardship, the rich old man took pity of her. My mother didnt accept the offer though we badly needed a place of our own. She said she didnt want the old man's children to accuse her of swindling their father.

You did the right thing to accept cos' you are going to make a difference in many patients' lives. If I am in a strong financial situation, I wld do the same thing. Nursing is such a noble profession and it is not always easy to spot a caring and compassionate nursing staff. I believe that he was wise to have noticed you. God sent you an angel to provide for your nursing education.

Re: CNA-Rags to CNA-Ritches

My sentiments exactly. I have no doubt in my mind, God put me through the wringer to establish myself in this profession, working for $6 p/h. But I never faltered. I pushed on, for years, gaining invaluable experience along the way. I was passion driven, not money driven, and look where it got me. You never know God's master plan. Now I am putting forth the effort to honor my client and the extraordinary opportunity I have been given.

You obviously brought joy to his life. He wanted to continue spreading that joy. Its his money, he can do what he wants with it. He obviously thought you were a good investment. Now make him proud!

You are so right, I am so proud and so blessed that God chose to put me in this clients life. HE blessed us both in ways that couldn't have been more profound. My work is unfinished!

Thank you for your kind words.

Re: CNA-Rags to CNA-Ritches

Good for you degraypoole! You will do well. Don't let anyone rain on your parade.....I too started with a GED. Now I am a RN after having worked as a LPN for over 12 years and a CNA for 3years. You keep climbing that totem pole. I meet a new grad RN recently that was 74. She now works as an RN supervisor in a nursing home. She often says "if death want to get me he's got to catch me first".......LOL...we all love her.
