Most importantly do not listen to negative people.. I have some friends who are supportive and others who do not say much, when I talk to them about it. So stay positive, and follow your dream.
It will mean so much when we are finished because we will know how much it took to get there!!
I am trying to get back into school. I only have 3 pre-reqs left. My current job however is pretty demanding, but pays pretty well. Having a hard time with financial security and going into serious debt. I have a 2 year old who has recently become very demanding. Since you are a mother, at what age do you think it would be easiest for me to go back to school? Should I wait until he's a little older and is not so demanding or would now be easier?

Hi Allie,
I also have concerns about getting into a lot of debt,so I have decided to do my pre-req, (even it is only one at a time) first,so I can keep working for now and maybe try to save a little money...LOL.... (that is pretty hard with two growing boys).
My kids are 16 and 12 right now and I have put off going back to school for a long time, because of family obligations. But if you have support from friends\family who could watch your child, while you are in class, you should give it a try...even if it is only part-time for now until you see how your new schedule will work. I have read alot of success stories here of women who have continued working while going to school and raise a family, it is good to know it can be done! Good luck to you in whatever you decide!

I am 41 years, old divorced w/ three children I'm in a class for the most with 30+ in age classmates, I'm in my 2nd year of nursing school, It's hard I have seen many come and go and for the most it's been a lot of the young ones. So let it work for you, and I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end. so if I can do it anyone can. I wish i would've started earlier, but I was a devoted wife, no anger just saying. Good luck and make it happen!!

How encouraging to read everyone's responses to this thread! I am in my 30s and am hoping to start an ADN program in October. I am a career-changer/late-bloomer. I was feeling really worried about debt, my age, etc. etc. but your posts were all very refreshing. Thanks, everyone, and best of luck to all of you!

Good for you to make a decision to go for your dream. You can do it and you are still young! I see so many on here changing careers in their 30's, 40's, 50's . . . I, myself, am starting nursing school in the fall and I will be 50 this coming Jan! Yikes!! I just remember thinking a couple of years ago when I decided to return to school (when I had just turned 48) that the longer I wait, the older I'll be. Might as well get started!!
Good luck!!!
