I was 27 when I graduated as a Midwife, there were others in my class 10+ years older, who were so focused on their learning, and are now fantastic midwives. Maybe as their kids were grown up a bit, which is where I am now, it was all the easier to put everything into the study, but my three were all still wee! I spent many a midnight oil burnin time, after I had done all my mammy stuff, just studying. OMG..THAT was the year I started smoking! Figure that out!
Still, I'm glad that I did it when I did, it was hard, sometimes impossible at the time, but the feeling of achievement at the end, especially when my kiddos all made me cards and had a dinner in my honour on my last day as a student...WOW! unforgettable! And now I'm reaping the rewards..ie..no childcare issues whichever shift I work!
Mature students...Go for it!
