Re: Anyone start their career late in Life?

Learning is a continuing process. It never stops at any age. Besides it helps keep our mind going and even in our age, the will to keep on going deserves a second chance. Hooray to your mom and to those who still wants to keep on studying. keep it up guys! we'll make it.

Hi Todd,

Not sure if I count by my "own" definition, (I'd much rather consider myself a very late bloomer as my previous employment was more just vocations and not "careers).

However I will be 41 upon graduation.

Just last week I had my clinicals with a nurse who was precepting a new nurse graduate, (the new nurse had to be in her early to mid 60's or so and told me that she didn't go to school until she was 55, when all her children grew up and she had time).

Good luck,
Gen

Thanks,

Hi Todd,
Did you get enough information? I started in my 30's then went on to get a BSN by the time I was 39. I now work in England. Your degrees would be very helpful, I'd think.
By the way......how many here do preop assessment nursing?

Marty

Re: Anyone start their career late in Life?

hey toddster, I am 53, male and just graduated in Dec 06. I just passed the NCLEX exam and have received my license. I am trying to decide if i should be a psychiatric or med-surge nurse. I would love any feedback i can get in these two areas. thanks all.

Re: Anyone start their career late in Life?

well, for what it's worth, if you do the med surg for a time you can move on to psych with good experience under your belt to complement your psych experience. I think it would be harder the other way, if you did psych first and decided you wanted to do med surg instead.

I finished school when I was 29, 10 years ago. Feeling as though it is already time for a change....anyone else?
