UC Riverside Extension!!!

Just started my first portion of the CFN (Certified Forensic Nurse) program online with this University and so far am really enjoying it. It is the Sexual Assault Examiner module and it's great, kinda pricey though....

It's keeping me occupied and cooling off my Nordy credit card since my registry keeps cancelling me (things are sssllooww here in the OC) and I basically have no life!

I'll keep you posted on the program. At the very least, after I complete this I will have certifcation to work , ah what a wonderful word!

If I want to work as an SAE I would register with Community Service Departments, Orange County Sheriff, Medical Examiner as well as listing myself with local hospitals that offer sub specialty treatment areas for Sexual Assault/Child Sexual Abuse .

I have a friend in Riverside who works every other week end on call for County of Riverside as a SANE and she gets paid whether she works or not.

Orange County is really drying up as far as nursing jobs so maybe I will look towards the inland empire. By the way, if you can, download the following:

California Medical Protocol for Examination of Sexual assault and Child Sexual Assault Abuse Victims, January 2001 edition.

It has everything you will be taught in any course here in California online or classroom, hands down.

I am sort of enjoying the coursework but since I located this document, I find the course work is identical to what is in the above mentioned.

Still ticking... the course is kinda silly. The written assignments seem to be descretionary, last week we had to label, identify and suggest the method that caused the trauma from some grainy images, do a drop box and submit.

There are nurses from all over the country taking this course so questions like " In the jurisdiction where you will be practicing, who funds the Sexual assault process? " are pretty germaine to the region. It may start getting interesting when I begin my internship with the Medical Examiner, the D.A.'s office, the ER, the ride along. I will keep you posted.

I spoke with Faye Otto and she said she would allow me to take the course even though I have another semester to complete in nursing school. Do yu really recommend this or wold I be better off taking it somewhere else...
Please be honest..it is very pricey and I do not want to waste my money
