Re: Are you almost there? Number of classes left?

E,
I am on the longer path as well. I have 5 little ones at home under the age of 9 (no twins) and I just started back to school. I decided that I should only take 1 class (yikes!) a quarter. I decided to just do one a quarter because my DH has to work full time and I don't know how I could study with 3 little ones at home during the day.. I question my decision almost daily because it is so hard to wait when it's my life long dream to be an RN.
I just worry that if I took 10 - 11 credits a quarter my grades might not be A's and then I've shot myself in the foot. My CC only accepts students once a year and YOU MUST be finished with ALL pre reqs before you even apply. At this rate I will be able to apply for Fall of 2010. So there's no incentive for me to double up classes and then just wait. Either way, I'm nervous about getting straight A's in the sciences...even with taking one at a time..
But, I think it's great that you are following your dream. I wish you good luck! and wanted you to know there are others (like me!) who have to do the less conventional route to fufilling our dreams to becoming a

I have 5 kids as well. 4 under 6. My oldest died 3 years ago, but would be 14. She would be a huge help. I found that the longer I went the more I realised I could still handle and get the A's I needed. You may find that as well. I think that the longer I have gone, the better I have been able to study... meaning, I have improved how to study. Once you find a niche you might feel better taking 2 or 3 classes.

Good luck!

Re: Are you almost there? Number of classes left?

I only have one class left (Dosage Calc) which I will take while in the program which I start in the Fall.

I took all the easy classes 12 credit hours at a time (English, speech, psych, developmental psych etc), and the harder science classes just two at a time.

Momof5, i give you props for doing what you are doing. I have a 4 yr old, and my wife is going to give birth soon (may 16) and im taking 3 classes this summer semester! There's going to be alot of sleepless nights and alot of studying, but like my mother always told me, "take it one day at a time" If its your dream to be an RN, then go for it. You only live once, and its only going to benefit you and your family in the long run. If its to much, you can always wait till your kids are a little bit older. That seems to be the case with many of the students in my classes. I just want to wish you Good luck and give you props for what you are doing for you and your family. Theres not alot of people that can do that.

Godbless,

E

I am taking 2 classes this fall, and I will start the nursing program in the Spring! I can't wait! I will still have to take A&PII when I am in nursing school, not looking forward to that semester

Re: Are you almost there? Number of classes left?

I am one day away from finishing my ADN.

When I was taking the prereqs it seemed like FOREVER before I got in the program or could even apply.

Then since I have been in the program, it seemed to trudge on FOREVER and EVER, like I would never finish.

Now that I am pretty much done, I look back and keep thinking wow, it went by so fast, I can't be done yet can I? It just seems impossible that I just spent 3.5 years in school. It seems like I just started. I think I am going to be a little depressed when it is all done, and I know I will miss it some, will be an adjustment to be out in the 'real world' soon!

Best wishes!

Re: Are you almost there? Number of classes left?

After today, I am done with pre-reqs! and waiting on the letter. I still have 3 co-reqs left to do. Advanced ANP, Micro, and critical thinking.

I'm hoping I can squeeze them in with the nursing core in the fall
