Re: When you graduate what part of nursing are you going into?

My goal is to work in l&d. I have wanted to work in that area for quite a while now, and after I had me daughter, it inspired me even more. I can't wait!

Re: When you graduate what part of nursing are you going into?

My hope is to just be able to get a job! Hehe. However, since most places want a year of experience I think I'll just take what comes avalable to get that year. Med/surg for a year of general exp will be the most likely choice. Now, once I can choose, my interests lie in l&d, postpartum care & peds.

Re: When you graduate what part of nursing are you going into?

I'd like to do Med/Surg actually, but I'm still in prereqs so I'm not locking myself down to anything. My daughter had some AWESOME nurses when she had her appendectomy (she was 7). They're who inspired me to be a nurse. (I started prereqs the next semester!) All the nurses we came into contact with were friendly, confident, and professional. They earned my respect and admiration.

Re: When you graduate what part of nursing are you going into?

I have wanted to work in L&D for as long as I can remember..but some of my other interests are NICU, Peds Oncology and ER. I'm sure I will be more focused on one area once I have finished the clinicals.

Re: When you graduate what part of nursing are you going into?

Now that i've finished my junior year of nursing school and i'm already well into my summer externship in the NICU, i'm about 99% that i want to go into the NICU when i graduate and after two years of experience go into a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.

Re: When you graduate what part of nursing are you going into?

I've given it some thought and as of the moment I think I want to be in the ER or OR. I'm an EMT right now, and love the challenge it brings with not knowing what is around the next corner. I start pre-nursing in September and the actual nursing part in the fall of 2009 with hopes to graduate in May of 2011. I'm definitely going to keep my mind open through the clinical's though!

I am definitely heading to Baltimore Shock Trauma to jump into their Trauma ICU. After that I am not sure if I want to go for my CRNA or enroll in UMB's 5 year CNS/NP program. Still not sure about that, but I know I want trauma!!!
