There are two care plan constructor sites on the Internet. They are both companion websites to books that are currently on the market. They only have limited information from their books and the sites are primarily to format and print out a care plan. No constructor site is going to provide you with a complete care plan since any care plan is unique and must be customized to the needs of the patient. There is care plan information on the Nursing Student Assistance Forum in this sticky thread: http://allnurses.com/forums/f205/desperately-need-help-careplans-170689.html - Desperately need help with careplans. And, on the General Nursing Student Discussion Forum in this sticky thread: http://allnurses.com/forums/f50/careplans-help-please-r-t-aeb-121128-7.html - CAREPLANS HELP PLEASE! (with the R\T and AEB).

It is very unlikely that you are going to find a care plan for gestational diabetes in most careplan books since this is an OB related problem. Maternal/Newborn Plans of Care: Guidelines for Individualizing Care by Marilynn E. Doenges and Mary Frances Moorhouse does address this issue in their book of care plans. I would be happy to share the information I have on this with you. However, I must advise you that the writing of a care plan is based upon your patient's assessment information and NOT upon their medical diagnosis. This is all explained in the "Desperately need help with careplans" thread that I gave you a link to above.

You would be looking for these symptoms in a patient with gestational DM:
  • edema
  • hypertension
  • UTIs
  • nausea and vomiting
  • obesity
  • polydipsia and/or polyphagia
  • hypoglycemia
  • glycosuria
  • signs or symptoms of ketoacidosis
  • a baby that is large for gestational age
The nursing diagnoses are then determined from the patients symptoms. All goals and nursing interventions are based upon the patient's symptoms.

I will help you with this care plan if you PM me or post a thread in the Nursing Student Assistance Forum (http://allnurses.com/forums/f205/). I do not usually check the posts in this forum.

Right now, I have lab pics from A&P 1, along with quizzes (including PowerPoint quizzes) which I have made to help me study.

I have pics and/or quizzes for the following: tissues, muscles, bones, nervous system (brain, spinal cord), etc.

Hope it helps someone!
Wow! This is great. I start A&P 1 this fall 2007, @ BMCC in NYC. I brought the A&P coloring workbook from Barnes & Noble, to get a head start. This will be useful also. Thanks

Not smart, if you intend to be sucessful and make it through it the first time, do one each semester with classes that are not so demanding. Youhave to be completely committed or you will not make it.
I actually did the same thing---took anatomy & physiology and micro, but along with two other classes as well (sociology & psychology: growth and development). My social life left something to be desired, and it was rare to get a full night’s sleep. I worked my butt off and ended up getting A’s in all four classes. However, it completely burnt me out. I ended up forgoing the nursing degree for a B.A. in economics and a short interlude in law school. Now, I want to be a nurse again! Haha.

I still have to take Anatomy and Physiology II in the Spring, and I’ve applied to UT Health Science Center-Houston. I’m taking the NET exam this Saturday and I’m rather scared….
