In the other forums on this site I have come across many lists in reference to top tens of why to be a nurse. I just love them they are so funny. I combined them into a top forty and posted them on them thread so you guys could see them and laugh with me.

Feel free to add some more of your own.



1. I love to wear white support hose.

2. I think blood is a pretty cool color.

3. I get a kick out of arrogant doctors.

4. Courteous and infalliable doctors who always leave clear orders in perfectly legible handwriting.

5. You have an overwhelming urge to humiliate doctors ... or marry them.

6. It's more challenging than brain surgery.

7. You crave excess stress in your already stressed out life?

8. If you don't, who will?

9. You have this overwhelming desire to feel important?

10. The doctors need you to care for their patients 24/7 so they don't have to?

11. I get free latex gloves.

13. To prove once and for all that you do have a strong stomach.

14. You still love to "assist" when playing doctor.

24. To prove to everyone that an "A" in high school chemistry does mean something, after all.

25. Do enough charting to navigate around the world.

26. Celebrate holidays with all your friends at work!!!

27. Expose yourself to rare, exotic, and exciting diseases.

28. I actually like vending machine food.

29. Somebody has to train the medical students

30. You're a natural-born "night person."

31. You blew your chance to become a nun / priest ... at age fourteen!

33. I always wanted to say: "This won't hurt a bit."

34. Needles: Tis better to give than to recieve.

35. Reassure your patients that all bleeding stops... eventually.

36. Take comfort that most of your patients survive no matter what you do to them.

37. Pay is better than fast food, though the hours aren't as good.

38. Because you have the gift and the life to give, and you want to give it, because it makes you feel good.
