I'm stoked, 3.94 GPA with three science classes and 18 hours.

The last class was basically a gpa booster. Unfortunately, I started at FCCJ with my gpa from when I went to college back in the 80's. I started with a 2.44 and over the last two semesters, I have raised it to a 2.81.

Hi Lynn! I earned my AA from FCCJ in 1999 (I think, LOL)
School is better the 2nd time around..or I'm better at it anyway! LOL
I had a rough first start so I am proof that one can turn it around.

It depends greatly on how you learn best-- I learn by DOING- so what helped me was the actual act of writing out index cards.
I literally went through 6 packs of index cards, and that was even after I cut each of them in half to save paper (and $$)

The other thing that helped me was repitition. I work in a customer call center, so between phone calls, I'd look at my cards- even if only one card before I had to take another call. all throughout the week, not just right before a test. Just a trivia question at a time at whatever period of time you can squeeze it in.

For the lab, it was a lot of repitition, and looking at the model or pig cadaver and repeating "This is the STERNOCLIEDOMASTOID- this is the STERNOCLIEDOMASTOID...."
If there was anything that I found hard to remember, I'd go on to something else, and after quizzing myself for at least 3 other things, I'd go back to the thing I was having trouble with and repeat it again.

Mixy, I'm finding out that I'm a MUCH better student this time around. I figure this is my "last chance" at school, so I'm making the best of it. I am 46 years old and I'm so determined to get my degree. I hope I at least make it out of school by the time I'm 50. LOL. I'm young at heart, so I figure I have plenty of time to be in the work force.
