Re: Sierra College Letters?

Congratulations Tahoewed on getting in! I did not get accepted this time to any of the three schools, but I'm glad in a way because I just wanted to get my name in the rotation, but not necessarily GET in yet. I have a few plans for the next 6 mos or a year to get some hospital experience by doing volunteering and taking Spanish and med terminology. Also, I want to get some bills paid off and have my life totally in order and ready for the program. I feel like I'm prepairing for my death when I talk about getting my finances in order and paying everything off, he he! I also want to go back and reread all my Anatomy, Physio, and Micro books so I'm well educated on the terms when I get in. NOTHING will stop me from ever giving up. I will apply until I'm 90 if I have to. My grades are good and I feel qualified, although I'm nervous because I don't know what to expect in the program. I literally just finished my prereqs back in December and since I spent the last year and a half slamming through my classes I need this time to breath, relax, and get myself in order. Taking Spanish and doing some volunteer will be fun and rewarding.
Aquarius, in regards to your question about Shriners.......I just started my volunteer, and I am doing the paper work right now. It is hard to get into any hospital because there are so many students seeking out hospital volunteer to obtain experience. Again, keep trying if you want to volunteer. There's a wait list, but time flies and before you know it, we'll all be nurses some day.
My motto for keeping myself at ease is: If someone else, anyone for that matter can get through nursing school, my golly so can I! If you can do it, I can do it too. Follow your dreams!

Hi Abby30! Thanks for the congrats! My plan was to work on the rest of my general ed classes and also pay off some debt before getting in....I basically applied just for the benefits that being a "second" time applicant gets....but low and behold I was accepted on my first try!

Congratulations Tahoewed777! I'm still working on pre-reqs and I figure I have to wait until after Spring of 09 to apply. I'm a little stressed out now because I need to find a job asap and the economy isn't really job seeker friendly at this point.

Congrats to all of you that got in this year! I was turned down this time, so bummer for me. Has anyone heard about the Sierra LVN program? Has anyone been accepted/denied? I applied this time around, and am hoping that I will maybe get into it because I have been working as a CNA for the last year and a half in order to have the experience that is required to apply. I think that if I get in I will get my LVN and go the Upward Mobility route. Anyway, i'm waiting patiently... camping out on my computer and mail box.....

Does anyone know if the Sierra College RN program has an assessment test requirement like the TEAS for fall 2008?
P.S for all of you who were accepted this semester, I live in Folsom and am excited to meet you all!

Currently, Sierra College does not require that you take the TEAS test. Though since so many of the local schools require it at some point in the process Sierra may add it as a requirement in the near future.

Just a quick question for the folks who just got into Sierra. Would you mind telling us what your GPA was when you applied? Overall vs. Pre-requisite? Sorry, but I have a great pre-requisiste GPA, but had a rotten prior attempt at another college that I'm afraid will sink my chances to get in at Sierra.

Sierra college students will be required to take the HESI during the 1st semester. It is like the teas but a little different. I asked a friend that is going into her 4th semester in fall and she did say that they require the HESI.
I would call the nursing dept and just ask them, they will give you a straight answer.

Hello Waiting08.... I'm not too far from you (Placerville). Where did you take your pre-reqs?? Have you heard of anyone else getting in to Sierra??
