Does anyone know if this section has to be completed? Several friends have told me that due to time constraints, they were unable to finish this portion.
Two of them had 5 or 6 questions remaining and decided to leave them blank and not just"guess" the rest. Was this wise? Should you fill in the questions and work the old 1 out of four aint bad odds thing?
Or do they only score you on the passages you have read and answered.

With all the variances in reading rates, you would think they would account for this somehow.

Anyway, I would appreciate any responses, and hope this question isn't an annoyance.

Well, all questions SHOULD be answered in that unanswered questions will automatically give you zeros for those questions. It would be better to answer them randomly (where you have a 25% chance of getting them right) than to not answer them at all (where you have a 0% chance of getting it right).

I believe the only portion of the test where they do NOT expect you to finish is the reading speed part. However, you still have to go back and reread the whole excerpt in order to then answer the comprehension questions.

If you take the computer test you will have no choice, because the computer will not let you go on without answering the question.

It would be best for you to verify with your program specifically what parts of the NET you need to pass in order to be accepted. For example, after stressing myself out about the algebra portion, I learned about a week before I took the NET that all I needed to pass was the Reading Comp portion. I still did the best I could on the algebra! And like the above poster mentioned, I took mine on a computer, and you can't move on to the next question until you answer the presented one. I highly recommend the NET study guide, if you don't have it. Reading comprehension sounds easy enough, until you read the study guide and get a understanding of exactly how a question might be worded and what answer they are looking for. Knowing the difference between inferences, conclusions, central themes, and main ideas, is all important on the test! If you study the study guide, you should do great! Best of luck to you!

Hello. I am thinking about nursing school, and one of the requirements is a 75 on the NET. I see that many of you mention a NET study guide, but not a name of a specific publisher. Does that mean there's only one NET study guide? I have heard about one guide that helps with the math part, but not with the reading comprehension part. Is this the same one? Also, what exactly are the reading comprehension and reading speed sections about? How many questions are there in these sections, and what are the readings like? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The NET study guide is published by Educational Resources, Inc. You might be able to find it at the library, usually it's on reserve. Your school bookstore would most likely have it. There's only one that I know of. It does include both the math and reading comp sections, and it has practice tests for each. Hope this info helps!

The NET Study Guide is sold by Eriworld.com , which is Educational Resources, Inc. That is the website my college has listed. The actual page to purchase it is: http://s40082.sites40.storefront-hos...tail.aspx?ID=1. They sell it for $26.50. (BTW, I bought mine on E-bay for way less.)

It is only a small book, but has a reading and math part. It explains the test, and how to answer questions, which I felt was a great help. It also has practice tests.

My cc requires at least 50% on both parts in order to apply for the nursing program. Other than that, I don't think the actual grade comes into factor when applying. (Only the GPA of the prereqs, and if there is a tie, the GPA of the other non-nursing courses taken.) GOOOOOOD LUCK!

Thank you (and rhiannon) for answering my questions about the NET. I was confused about the study guide, as no one ever mentioned a publisher. My college does require a 75 on the test, in addition to a minimum 2.5 GPA in four prereqs, in order for a student to be considered for the nursing program. I just completed an algebra class, so I was more concerned with what the reading comprehension part was like. Thanks again for letting me know where to buy a copy of the book.
