A&P Summer 2008

Hi y'all! I'm planning on taking A&P I for this summer and this thread is for anyone else doing the same. Am I crazy for taking a summer AP class? You betcha! It's gonna be MTThF 5-9:30PM, starting in june and lasting 8 weeks. I'm working a full-time contract on the side that I'll finish up at the end of June, so for me it'll be full-time work for the first half, but then a much-needed break from work at the last half of the semester. Any advice from the AP veterans out there?

Right now I study at least 2-3 hrs a night. There is allot of information to cover even in a 16 week semester. When tests come up, I just review what I have learned. Study as much as you can because those 8 wks will go by fast.
There are many people out here that took A&p1 during the summer that can give you some valuable advice.

I took A & P I and A & P II in summer sessions last year, each session was almost 6 weeks and I did fine, you should have no problem doing it in 8 weeks as long as you dedicate plenty of time for studying. Hope this helps!

Re: A&P Summer 2008

My best piece of advice...start now. The first couple of things you do in ANP 1 is bones and muscles and regions of the body. Get your book and memorize those (including the landmarks on the bones) If you don't have a book there are a thousand websites WWW.GETBODYSMART.COM is one the best and easiest. Also www.mhhe.com/saladin4 is the website for my textbook, but they all are about the same (I think) It is doable, very much so, but much easier if you have a good head start. and that second site has all kinds of tests and quizzes for lecture and lab type stuff.

Re: A&P Summer 2008

Well i too am in.. Although it is a 10 week instead of 15 week class here in CO. I'm worried about the lack of 5 weeks, but I really want to get on with it since my husband is military and we could move. I want to get going.
But I will be taking Dev. Psych. as well online because I need 6 credits I'm nervous about taking an online class as I hate to write papers and I'm afraid that is what i'll have to do!!

Re: A&P Summer 2008

Hi,
I'm planing on taking A&P II this summer. It's online starting in May lasting 10 weeks. I think it'll be similar to the one I'm taking now even though I had 15 weeks for this one. I started 2 weeks late and skipped a couple of weeks when I was busy in on campus classes. I am behind now and trying to catch up these last couple of weeks.

Re: A&P Summer 2008

I'm taking A&P online this summer. I've already started preparing for it. I'm also taking statistics so that's my main worry. I bought the Complete Idiots Guide to A&P and I've been using http://www.mhhe.com/biosci/esp/2002_...sp/default.htm which is the same on listed above. I am going to check out the GetBodySmart website, it looks interesting.

Re: A&P Summer 2008

:raises hand:

I, too am one of the crazies.

I'm taking A&P II and lab this summer during a 7 week mini-mester. The class will be Tues and Thurs 8am-10:30am for lecture and 11am-2pm for the lab. One positive is that my A&P I instructor is teaching part II this summer, so I know what to expect from him regarding tests, etc.

Good luck everyone! I'm also taking Pharmacology this summer at the same time. I already got my acceptance letter for the nursing program, so this is the only way I can get in my last pre-reqs in time to start Fall '08.

Re: A&P Summer 2008

Hey thanks for everybody's advice! In particular, I'll be sure to use Coltsgirl's A&P links. There's also this site:

http://groups.msn.com/AnatomyPhysiologyTests/

The guy who runs the group is an actual A&P teacher and has a lot of useful information about it. Good luck to everyone joining me on "drinking from the firehose"
