They're really not very different at all...that's why both the nervous system and the endocrine system work together as the major control centers of the body (the hypothalamus-hypophisis connection, etc.). Both NTs and hormones are usually small peptides, they're messengers, they have target organs/cells, etc. I know there are some major differences, but to me the structure and function are very similar.
