Well I got bad news two days in a row! One rejection letter yesterday from Sutter Extended Campus and two others today. That truly stinks! This is my second time applying for ARC and SCC programs in Sacramento, CA but when you have 631 qualified applicants and your selection is based on lottery, there is not much hope. So I am still waiting on Yuba College which is a waitlisted program. Once again I wait. Thank goodness I have a good job that I love. So now I am going to wait until the next application period (Sept) and take my prereq's for the entry level master's program at Sac State (I already have a BS in Health Science). Sigh. I need some good news!

You can call Yuba and ask them where you are on their waitlist.

I finally got into ARC on my third attempt. I start in August.

I did not get accepted into the Sutter program or SCC (second try there).

It's taken me a long time to get in. It makes me resent even more the people who get into both ARC and SCC on their first try and then say they don't even know if they want to be a nurse. So, get out of the way and let someone who really wants the spot have it!

Seriously, call Yuba. I went on their list a year ago and when I called in March they told me I should be getting a letter in May telling me I have a spot in fall.

Do either of you know what the criteria is for the Sutter program. I know it used to be GPA first and then if a tie (say 2 candidates both with a 3.8) then they would go to paid healthcare experience but I'm not sure if it's still that. I know CSUS posts each semester what the average GPA & test score is for the class admitted but I've never seen anything for Sutter.

It sounds like Yuba is a good option - it's just so far.

I got my letters for ARC and SCC (extended)
5 times in applying to ARC and I cant even get on the wait list....BOOOO
4 times to SCC, have yet to get the regular session notice. Sounds like it might be in todays mail, so maybe a BOOO
1 time applying to SCC extended and I am on the wait list. And they wont tell me where, of course. My friend was on the wait list for last years extended and they called her two weeks in and told her to be there Tuesday morning....

Did you get accepted there to? Yes, I figured for the normal scc program as take everyone and do the top and bottom 1/3rd of all eligible applicants get on the wait list. But I didnt know if the extended program did as they only had 261 eligible applicants. Did everyones two SCC letters come together (Normal and Sutter)? Hope mine didnt get lost as I only had the Extended and ARC's in the mail yesterday.

I was only accepted at ARC. The letters for the regular and extended SCC programs were mailed separately. I received the extended program letter yesterday and the regular program letter today.

Last time I applied at SCC I was in the bottom third of those on the alternate list. This time they have me at the top third of the list.

You know, they say that students are chosen based on lottery, but I don't know if I quite believe that. A counselor at ARC told me that students wouldn't have to apply any more than 4 times. I don't think that's quite true, either.

I've also heard not so great things about Yuba, both from counselors at ARC and SCC ("they're a poorer school and can't offer the resources we do." "if you can't say something nice...", "we're getting tons of calls from their nursing students wanting to transfer here.." as well as from other people.

Anyhow, I got into ARC on my third try and I've applied unsuccessfully to SCC twice now.

I heard the same thing from the SCC counselor about Yuba. Did your ARC acceptance come in the 9x12 brown folder with the paper work or just a letter? And why did ARC switch to a bright green decline letter, it got me excited at first, lol. And I stand as proof that the 4 times at ARC is a fallacy, lol. When I applied to SCC the person before me was on her 6th app.

The acceptance came in the big manila envelope. I knew what it was before I even opened it, but thinking back, when I didn't get in they sent it back in a big envelope too, with all my application junk in it.

The counselor at ARC told me if I didn't get in the fourth time (if necessary) to call the head of the nursing department and speak to her. So, you may want to give her a call and see?
