Re: NLN Results....

'I have also heard a poster on here awhile back ago was wait-listed for Stratham and they were in the 99th percentile, so they have to be looking at other areas other than NLN scores, at least in that particular case.'

eeek! Wait-listed when they got in the 99th?? I didnt get anywhere near the 99th..... sucks for me!

Re: NLN Results....

Yeah,,, my results came in. I got a 137, composite percentile of 96. I hope that is good enough to get me in. My taking this test was a shot in the dark at hopefully filling 1 of 15 seats left open for the top 15 test scores they leave open after filling with pre req's. That way I wouldn't have to wait until spring of 08. I'm afraid just yet to get all excited.

Re: NLN Results....

Congrats hairtocare! That's an awesome score!

As far as the conversation ealier about NLN and getting in---my school used to base getting in ONLY on that test which HELLO?!?! Then a few girls did well on the tests--up in the 130s and had flunked out of school before the 1st 6 weeks. Now they go by grades and all that too.

And while I made a good enough score that I should get in, I think it's a crazy test!

Re: NLN Results....

I agree, it is crazy. I studied my rear end off for that test. I can't imagine a school just considering that test for entrance. That is ridiculous. I think it should be a combo also. But since I don't have all my pre req's in before application, this was my only shot to get in for the fall of this year or I would have to wait until next fall. So, in my case, I guess the score is all they will look at. Keeping my fingers crossed!
congrats to all on getting the results and doing good! Now we can sit and bit eour fingernails off waiting for the acceptance/denial letters. My school lets us know in April. Can you believe that? All this waiting is going to drive me nuts!!
If I do get in, my summer schedule is going to be insane!! I will have to take a double schedule to fill my pre req's over the summer. Wow, in a 5 week course I will have to take CPR, a math if needed ( have to take a math diagnosis test if I do get in), A+PI, Micro and English Comp II. And then the other 5 weeks of the summer I will need A+PII, Chem, and a humanities. If I do get in, sounds like I won't be enjoying any sun shine. O'well, it's worth all of it!

Re: NLN Results....

Wow, you will be busy hairtocare. I am kind of in a similar situation though, I haven't done A&P 1 or 2, so I won't get those points to get into school (if they do in fact count them anyway, Talulah and I have heard different things for one of the schools we are applying to so who knows), so everything for me is based on my NLN scores and references. So I knew I had to do really well on that test and made myself a little crazy studying for it too. They don't look at your GPA for any of the other classes, and they don't even look at your GPA for A & P, at least that is my understanding.
So, Talulah, maybe that is what the head of admissions meant now that I am thinking about it. Probably the majority already have A & P done and if they don't look at GPA on those classes then the only other thing that would really be looking at is the NLN and those references. I don't know, just a thought, but I think that would make the most sense based on the two different answers we received.
I pretty much have all my other classes done, but I will have to take A&P and Micro and I am going to take the CLEP test for human growth and development. Everything else is complete.
But I agree that the NLN is a hard indicator to go solely by to figure the competency of the student. I am surprised that the schools aren't looking at GPA too.
Is it April already so we can find out if we got in!!??

WOO HOO!! CONGRATS!! YOU ALL ROCK!!

I am so happy for all of you that worked so hard and did so well on the test. I have been praying for all of you since the day you took it and judging by the scores it worked!! You are all a bunch of smarties!! Hope all of you take the time to celebrate yourselves and all that you have already achieved. Bravo!!

JDLAStew:

Thanks sweetie!! I take mine 3/3 at 8:30am. I am not a morning person. I am pretty nervous, but just want it done with already. Congrats on your awesome score!! May I ask what your scores were in science if you don't mind sharing?! I am trying to get an idea on the scores versus the percentile. Thanks!!

Re: NLN Results....

I will only be judged on my NLN scores. I was told I need a 99th percentile to get in as they take 40 out of approx. 850 applicants.

As I have been out of school for over 5 years my SAT scores and transfer grades aren't counted towards my being accepted. It puts a ton of pressure on this test and also makes me feel that I am at a great disadvantage to get in. We find out at or around 4/15.

Thankfully I have another school which puts you on a list and as long as you pass the test and the pre-reqs you get in. It just takes some time to do so, but I am thrilled to have a back up plan.

Re: NLN Results....

God luck Batman, keep praying, that works, and by the way, thanks for the ones you sent up for us.
Speaking of a back up plan, there is a hospital by me that is acceptping appliations until March 31 for their diploma program. I don'tknow if I should apply to that just in case?????????? It is so stressing and confusing!!

Re: NLN Results....

I am trying to decide too whether to apply to another school, but it is a private school and it is so expensive so I have been on the fence. I will probably just apply so that I have a backup plan.

Batman- I know I was looking for how people were scoring and what that came out to with the percentiles when I was waiting to get my score. In the science section I had a raw score of 48 out of 60 and that came out to the 97th percentile.
It is hard to determine for sure though because they test you on more questions than they count, so you can't just be like, I can get x many wrong and still be in the x percentile, do you know what I mean? (that was what I was trying to do when I left the exam before I found out that not all the questions counted) And you don't know what questions will count and what questions won't. For instance, we had 80 questions on the verbal and science sections each, but only 60 were used to calculate the score. Not sure if you knew all that but thought I would add it in, kind of makes trying to guess your score a little more difficult unfortunately. Hopefully that all made sense!!

Anyway, I'll be thinking of you and putting positive vibes out there when you take your test!
