Re: NLN Results....

I have a question about what forms of ID to bring? I can't find my driver's license right now! Does anyone know what else I can use?

thanks!

I brought my passport for my photo ID. I can't remember if it has to be government issued, but if it doesn't you can maybe try a student ID or anything else that has a picture on it. It should say on your letter what types of identification they accept.

Thanks, I guess I will bring my passport.

So is anyone else taking the NLN in a few weeks?! I need support! I think the math session is going to be the hardest for me. I am focusing mostly on timing myself to make sure I have time to do the problems I know and then guessing on the one's I have no idea about.

Did people find it easy to quickly skim through the sections for all the easy questions and then go back in and work on the hard ones? I think practicing the timing and having some kind of a strategy for taking the exam is equally as important as knowing the material.

I am hopeful but nervous!

Re: NLN Results....

Ok I took my NLN on the 26 of April and got my results in the mail. I got a composite of 141. What do your schools require? I know the bottom of the page says that scores can be between 0 and 200, so do I take my percentage of 141 out of 200, or do I use the compostite percentiles? In those I got di-98, ad-96, all-97. So is that a good score or bad???

I've emailed my advisor, but I haven't gotten answers.

Thanks for your help!
Chancie

Those are really good Chancie, you did better than 98% students who took the test with a diploma I believe. Better than 96 % with a ADN and better than 97% altogether. Im proud of you

Re: NLN Results....

I have a couple questions about the NLN:

First when you guys go to take the test, where do they send you? Do you go to to your college to take it, or do they send you to a different location? I have been trying all week to get a hold of my advisor to ask her this..but she is impossible to get on the phone.

Second, on my NS application, it says my school requires a "96 composite score" in order to be admitted to the program ......what's a "96 composite score" mean?
I can tell you that I'm not worried about the NLN, EXCEPT on the Math portion. My scores won't be pretty in the math portion...I'll probably be dong a lot of guessing in the math portion..do I have room for much error?

Re: NLN Results....

I took the NLN at the college the test date was available to meet my deadline. I had the scores sent to the colleges I applied to (its done step by step when you register to take the exam). Since I was already taking it at College "T" I figured why not apply there.

I dont know how bad you are at math, but I suck and I did well. Theres one correct answer, if youre not sure about the problem try using the answers to figure it out --make sense? The math was very basic algebra, decimals, fractions. questions like "what is 20 percent of N" is over of equals percent over 100 -- remember that?

If i confused you, i apologized I just got home and Im dead tired but I couldnt help but answer someone in need.

Thanks for helping, Natingale! I appreciate it! I am verrrrrry bad at math. Anything beyond basic addition and subtraction, & I might as well forget it. I took a trip to Borders Books today to see if they had an NLN study book, and they did not. I did get two books though--"Painless Fractions" and "Painless Algebra". I think they will help me a lot. I don't know percentages either (at all)--but I didn't see any books on that.

Thanks again!

Re: NLN Results....

I just took the NLN and am so relieved! I got a composite score of 126 and percentile of 89%!

This is much better than I had expected, I was just praying for at least a 100!

So now I am just hoping this will get me into my program, I needed a 100 to qualify.

Now I can relax a bit
