I just thought that any hospital would not hire me because of my age or it would be harder to get employment in that field since i would be 44 before i would graduate.

Your going to be 44 yrs old reguardless, so why not be 44 with R.N after your name? I don't think you will have to worry about finding employment

Not too old

You are absolutely not too old. That was my concern at first also; however, the more I looked around this site and my school the quicker that concern went away. This subject has been discussed quite a bit here. Do some searching and check it out for yourself. You'll do great. I actually think you have an advantage.

All the best.

Age is a state of mind

OMG no you are not too old at all! I've just turned 50 and changing my life, decided to leave nursing in the UK and relocate to US. At first I wondered if my age would hinder me but I decided, hey, I've still got a lot to offer! Maybe even more now than I had 20 years ago! Go for it! You won't regret it.

Hi there. I'm 38 and will be starting Prep course for LPN program Jan. 4.
This lasts til March 8 and I'm already anxious and nervous because I've been
a stay-at-home mom for the past 8 yrs. Can't get up the confidence that I can even pass that exam because I've been away from school and work-force for sooo long. If nursing is in yr heart give it a GO ! You'll turn 50 and will regret not trying... if u don't.

I have 2 boys, 8 & 10 and married. I'm thanakful I have them a a huge support system.
Good luck ))

I'm 50 (almost 51) and starting back to school. I'm going to try to get through Chemistry (Winter Quarter). Wish me luck! I'm taking it one class at a time!
