I was wondering how the interview process was and how you prepared for it. I was also wondering if they give situational questions, or just basic questions such as, "why do you want to become a nurse?" or "What does a nurse do?". Thanks!

I'm not sure, the chemistry i took in undergrad was for science majors, but if you go to the nursing page on MSMC, and find the articulation agreements for other colleges, you can see what the equivalent is.

well the chem i took was gen. chem and i had no problem with it satisfying the requirement. but leslie (lilly1980) is right on - just take a look at the articulation agreements, and it will show you what courses work!

Honestly, I didn't really prepare too much besides reading over what I put in my personal statement/essays. I was just myself (as corny as that may sound), I was a nervous self, but myself. I interviewed with Mary the director of the nursing program and she asked me mainly all the questions that were asked on the application essay. At the time of interview she hadn't read my essays or rec letters but other staff looked over them and 'scored' them as to whether I should be interviewed. I'm sure at some point after the interviews she read everyones letters and essays.

Not really any situational questions, I got a point blank are you competitive question. They try and foster a group environment not every man for themself. So I told her I am competitive with myself, I like to challenge myself but when I told her I regularly participated in study groups that seemed like the type of attitude she was looking for and wants in their nursing students.

My interview probably lasted around 45 minutes, it was longer than I expected, but it didn't seem long, we were just kind of talking. (I guess maybe that was a good sign?)

that "are you competitive" question was definitely the one that threw me for a loop too! i had NO idea what to say, but i pretty said the same thing - that i hold myself to a pretty high standard, but that i do like working with people when everyone pulls up their end of the deal (to which she replied that everyone in a program like this usually does!). the rest of the interview for me was pretty much the same also - we talked for quite sometime and that really eased the tension...mary is SO nice and not scary to talk to at all...when i first walked in she said "you're not nervous are you? cuz you shouldnt be!" and from that point on i felt totally fine...the rest of the questions were along these lines...... "how did you hear about the program", "why do you want to be a nurse", "are you ok with not having a life for the next year", "does your family know what kind of commitment this is going to be and will the be supportive of you during this time?", "What do you do to deal with stress?"

hopefully this, too, gives you a bit of a heads up on what to expect when you apply!

so i got the note telling me to register for courses, and i went ahead and did so, but wasnt able to register for the last one (45B) cuz it would give me more than 18 units, and the system said that i cant register for more than this online. so i emailed back the registrar's office asking them what to do, but havent gotten a response.....

i didn't get a note about registering, was it an email from tanesha? i wonder if i should email her. the last couple emails on both my personal and msmc email was about email access.

i got the email to my MSMC email from someone in the Registrar's office .... have you checked that email yet?

i emailed tanesha and she forwarded me the email, thanks. i also called the registrars office about registering with too many units and they said it's a glitch in the system. she doesn't know why it was doing that, but she said to register for all the classes you can and then fill out and add/drop form for the remaining class when school starts. (if the problem isn't fixed by then)

did you turn in the scholarship applications? i applied to both although northridge would obviously be more convenient for me.

sorry i didn't respond sooner, i don't know why, but i don't always get notified when there is a reply on the thread, sometimes i just have to randomly check...like tonight.

4 more weeks....i can't believe it!!!!

i called the registrar's office too because i was having the same problem, but the girl sounded like she had no idea what she was talking about, so i'm glad to hear that it's a problem with the system!!

AHH I KNOW, I cant believe its coming up so fast! But I am SOOOOOOO excited!
