Re: Missouri Nursing Programs

Hi, and congrats. I just graduated from a BSN program here in KC and I know about most of them in the area. What time of program are you looking for? and when are you planning on starting.

Re: Missouri Nursing Programs

well, I kinda of want to do any kind of accelerated program. The MCC program would probable only take me a year and it is cheaper and I am basing my pre-reqs off of that. I kinda just switched gears really fast. I graduated May 9 and then by the 15 I was hurrying to enroll in A&P so I could apply in August for MCC nursing program. However, they get like 200 apps and only admit 60-65 so I wanted to have other options- you know. Thanks for any info you can give. And CONGRATS on graduating with your BSN!!!

p.s. I would like to start ASAP

Re: Missouri Nursing Programs

Well I know that the ADN is cheaper but in most hospitals if you want to climb a clinical ladder you will have to eventually get your BSN and the clinical time is no different. Personally if I were you I would stick to the BSN route to save time and over all it will save you money. There are several BSN programs in the KC area, I graduated from Graceland and I know you could start there next fall. Their application deadline is in November and this would give you a year to finish your prereqs. There is no waiting list.

Also I would maybe get a job as a tech somewhere because it is good experience and gives you an idea of what you will be doing. But that is remember is just in my opinion.

I don't know if you prefer the eastern part of the state, but I'm enrolled at SLU's Accelerated nursing program. I can answer any questions that you may have.

Re: Missouri Nursing Programs

Hey thanks for all the info. I am a KC girl - for now. Julliette I don't know how you afforded $590 a credit hour- but good for you. I am way too broke for Graceland- I already have almost $30 grand for my first degree. The program sounds nice. I would love to get a tech job but they are hard to get around here- at least so far. If you have any suggestions that would be great. Thanks again.

Re: Missouri Nursing Programs

It is not as expensive as it seems. Graceland gives pretty high grants related to your GPA. My last year I had no loan money left (maxed at 50K from previous schooling) and relied on a scholarship and the sustaining grant from graceland and ended up paying 433.00 a month for what I didnt have left for 10 months. And for the program that is not to bad. Plus again no waiting list and you could be starting by next fall.

PS as for tech jobs try Truman I loved it!!!
