::Hello, I just revised this message::

I'm applying into the nursing program at MCC for the Fall of 2008. Have taken my TEAS exam and scored an overall of 88% with a 95th percentile. My overall GPA is a 3.13. Was an engineering major but switched over to Biology Pre-Professional major. So majority of my classes that I've completed which by the way is over 30 credits already are mainly General ed and engineering classes, like C++ (CSC133), Calc II, Chem II and so forth. Have not taken any biology or anatomy classes which I have reqistered for in the Spring of 2008. I will be taking Anatomy and Phys I and Microbio along with sociology. I'm at the borderline of having to decide what major I need to go for. So I have applied both to Rutgers and MCC for the Fall of 2008. If I don't get into nursing my back up plan is Physician Assistant, which I need to get my Biology major anyways.

So the only science class I have are Chem I (B) and Chem II (B) and my maths, PreCalc (A), CalcI (B) and CalcII (B). Anyone on the same boat or have questions to be answered. Even regarding the TEAS exam.

I didn't realize that they consider residency also among other things. I know brooklyn do have a good nursing school if you want to consider. My sister is attending the school there and is doing well. Just don't quite remember the name of the school, but I just know it's a CUNY.

howwas your TEAS test. I'm also applying to middlesex cc for fall 2008. I havent received my letter for the TEAS, i just applied on monday.

please give some tips about the test and how did you study.

Hey there. I got the manual from the ATI website and study from there. I did ok I guess. I scored an overall of 88% and in the 95th percentile. Really didn't take much time studying for it as I have finals and everything to worry bout but then again, I think I didn good considering I'm in the 95th percentile.

I mailed my application out the first day they accepted applications and got my letter back within two or three weeks. If you completed all of the pre-reqs and meet their requirements, they'll send you the application for the TEAS exam. Theres really not much A&P question I only have one out of the whole exam. Study your conversion factors and make sure your math skills are quick cuz they don't give you much time to think through each question. The english is simple high school stuff and the reading also. P.S. what's your science gpa and your overall gpa? just wondering...

thanx a lot. im waiting for my letter to take the teas. i handed my application in late so i can study over winter break. my overall GPA is not great at all...................it is 3.3 and i only have one science course A&P1 and unfortunately i got a C+. SO MY GOAL IS TO DO WELL ON THE TEAS TEST SO THAT I CAN STAND A CHANCE.

I GOT THE TEAS STUDY GUIDE FROM THE LIBRARY. R U SELLING UR MANUAL. IF SO I'M INTERESTED. DID IT HELP YOU A LOT? WERE THERE SIMILAR STUFF ON THE EXAMS.

I took the NLN there last year (they changed the test to TEAS this year) and scored in the 98% as well as having a high GPA. I was denied. They said they only take 99% and up. They also said because my courses were transferred that my GPA didn't come into play. Very odd.

They only take about 50 students a year and about 500 apply from what I understand. They do not have an ongoing waiting list like Brookdale does. You either get in or you don't. You then have to start from scratch again the following year. Has this changed?!

The one thing you have going for you that I didn't is that all my courses were at another school. After some poking and prodding as my scores were so high I found out they take their own students first. After hearing that I knew I didn't have a shot in hell at their school. Take as many credits as you can there and do well on your test and chances are you will fare better. Good luck.

Hey I really have no need for the manual anymore. I will give it to you. I'm not planning on selling it anyways. My GPA is a 3.13 so don't feel too bad. I'm attending there now majoring as a Biology Pre-Professional. Haven't quite take my AP1 either, but I'm registered to take in the Spring of 2008. From what I hear, they choose students who already attend MCC with he high GPA first, and I guess the TEAS is a baseline for cut offs. There are similar stuff on the exam, but less hectic than the practice exam in the manual. I also took the online assessment practice test they have on the ATI website. I think I definitely suggest people to take that to get an actual idea of how the real exam is like. Alot of people panice not knowing what's on there, when you take that practice exam you'll see how it's like and you will know what's your weak area and what you really need to concentrate on. Hey there, I think they just recently changed it to the TEAS this year or last year when they change to Raritan Bay joint program. They are no longer with UMDNJ. There are 100 open seats, with overall and science GPA considered, along with the TEAS exam. I'm not quite sure how many applied this year and who got what. I was an engineering major before i switched over to Biology. So most of my classes are engineering classes. I have taken up to Calc II and so many other classes. I have even taken Chem II, which is really not part of the nursing requirement in MCC.

I also believe that the reason why they changed it to TEAS because MCC doesn't require A&PI as a pre-req but more of a co-req. NLN Entrance exam have a lot of A&P questions. So I think that's the reason of the change of exam. From what I hear from the department, they want to keep the students that is already attending MCC first, so MCC student get first priority along with high school graduate. If you're from another community college, you may find yourself in a little tougher competition against someone who may have a lower gpa than you. That's what I hear so don't quote me on that. I'm still bugging them every now and then to see how they make their decisions.
