Re: Microbiology—Spring 2008

Sounds like everyone is doing well so far! We have our first exam on Monday, on four and a half chapters - intro/history, microscopy, taxonomy, prokaryotic cell structure and microbial growth. It's so much information! I've been trying to keep up and reviewing some every day so it's starting to stick. I'm enjoying the class so far and the teacher seems reasonable.

Good luck to all!

Re: Microbiology—Spring 2008

I know I shouldn't be hard on myself, but since I've already taken this class once, I should be doing better this time around. Ugh...

Re: Microbiology—Spring 2008

Hey everyone. I have my microbiology midterm tomorrow and I am really hoping that it goes well. I've been trying hard to study but the presentation of some of the lectures were a little confusing and with a lot of irrelevant information (which the prof told us not to memorize). Wish me luck

I totally made my husband take me out for dinner & drinks to celebrate. =D I just found out that one of the programs I'm applying to took a lot more people this semester than they thought they would, so it looks like the waitlist will be a lot shorter once I apply.... YAY! (sorry off topic)

Re: Microbiology—Spring 2008

I haven't been on in a while because I've had a good bit going on personally. I am about 6 chapters into my micro class. When we did our first unit it was really boring, but now I like the material we are covering now. We have our second test in a week on Microbial genetics and recombinant DNA and technology. I was not able to take my first test because the morning of my test my fiance was involved in a car accident. My professor is letting me take the test at the end of the semster.

Re: Microbiology—Spring 2008

I think physiology was a lot harder than microbiology. Micro was actually fun for me. When I took the class, my instructor recommended to take chem 1st. However, I dont think it was necessary. I think the only thing we used in micro involving chem was the empirical formula and scientific notation here and there. Like any science course, micro requires a lot of reading.

Re: Microbiology—Spring 2008

Add me to the list of microbiology takers. We're starting our 3rd week and I can't decide if this is going to be hard or not. My brain nearly exploded with physiology so I am waiting for this to be that hard. The lecture instructor really loves his job so I like listening and he provides us with the exact notes he lectures and gives tests from; we'll only have three tests! I expect they will be hard. The labs are conducted by a different person and so far it seems quite easy. We are supposed to write a group paper in that class but so far no details have been given.

I'm using the Tortora book too and listen to the notes via the audiobook download from iTunes. There are a lot of microbiology podcasts on iTunes for those who like to listen to lecture. I'm a better listener-learner than reader-learner.

I'm also taking Dev Psych online and a 6-week medication calculation class.
