I am an average student, and I hadn't had a science in over 10 years, and I did very well in A&P.

The book explains all of the terms that you will use...when you get to the muscles and bones, if you have had biology at all, it will come back to you.

It depends. I took it, but a lot of people would rather just take strictly the courses required for their program. Only you can say if it would be the right thing for you to do.

It's not necesssary to take it in order to do well in your a and p classes. After taking it in the summer before i took a and p, i found out that it helped some. If it's a pre-req go ahead and take it. I think it's a good idea in the long run to take it if your geting in to nursing- you'll want all the knowledge you can get in your arsenal before entering nursing school. Also abbreviations are constantly used in reports so it helped in that repect. If your a self learner then it would probably be a better idea just to purchcase a book and study from it. That way it will save you precious time.

I took a medical terminology class at my local cc, and thought it helped a lot. As other posters said though, if you are a good self self disciplined student, you won't need to take the class. You can just buy a older edition of the text. There is soooooo much memorization in A&P. For example, not only do you need to remember names of muscles and their locations, you'll need to learn the origins, insertions, and actions. If you learn the muscle names and locations in the terminology book, then you job becomes much easier in your A&P class. With nursing schools becoming so competitive now-a-days, an "A" in one of your core sciences could only help you.

I don't think it is necessary to take med. term before A&P. My school doesn't even require you to take med. term. as a nursing student. My understanding is that you are given a word bank to learn of terminology terms.

I did however take med. term. many years ago. I don't remember much from it at this point but I do still have my book from the course. I do however plan to review it next summer but I will have completed A&P by then.

its not a requirement but its really helpful..the healthcare field is like learning new language. the class is super easy

I just found out that Med. Terminology is a requirement at my CC. It wasn't before, until this yr.
I'm glad to hear it's gonna be helpful.

I'm gonna take Med. Term. 1st semester then take A&P 2nd semester.
