Re: Math help links

Off the subject--how do you all hyperlink websites to tell others about a certain site like math for example?

When you are posting, look at all the little buttons above the text box, like B I or U. To the right of them, about in the middle, you will see a globe with a chainlink on it. Click on that. It will pop up a window where you type the website and then click on OK.

Hope this helps.

When I am on a web site that I want to bookmark or link I merely copy and paste the address of the site which appears in the Browse box at the top of my window. I then paste that address into text I am composing, hit the space bar once and Windows automatically makes it a hyperlink and the link turns blue. When I am posting messages with links in them (to math sites, for instance) I usually compose the message on a word document, then copy and paste what I've composed to a "Post Reply" window. All the links come through OK. If I'm ever in doubt I double check the links by clicking on them myself to see that they work after I've "Submit(ed my) Reply". If they don't, then I go into my message and "Edit" it. The more you work with this, the more clearer it will be to you.

I am re-taking the math sequence in order to take calculus again. I just finished Intermediate Algebra. A MathXL tutorial CD came as part of our textbook package. You can also access MathXL on line. If your college bookstore doesn't include this with your textbook you can order it, but may have to pay for it (about $20). This was, without a doubt, one of the best math helps I've ever seen. It is capable of generating practice problems and give you step by step information on how to solve them. Intermediate algebra is pretty much honing your ability to factor quadratic equations by site, grouping, completing the square and the old quadratic formula. You will learn about graphing functions, complex numbers and that weird imaginary number i, some elementary work with logarithms and exponential equations toward the end. You may or may not get into the equations and graphing of circles, ellipses and hyperbola.
