Hi everyone, I can use some advice. I am an Medical Assistant. I applied for RN in BMCC. But, I have been hearing bad rumors about the professors there. I did in fact attend the Open House. I felt ignored. There were teenagers everywhere acting like they are in high school. Very loud, making out in lounge. The Financial Aid office had them helping me. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against teen agers. My son is 18 and daughter is 22. My friend from my previous college is in the evening/weekend RN program, she says that her professor is bipolar. I was thinking on going to Laguardia CC. But, they aren't flexible with the classes. I only have 4 classes to take before I get into the RN Clinical Classes. The good thing about BMCC is that I didn't have to take an entrance exam due to me having 92 credits. Any advice out there? I need to work cannot afford to go to classes 9-5pm mon-fri. I am 43 years old and wish to be finished in 2 years with whole RN program.

I'm doing prereqs at LaGuardia now. Everything I've heard says that we have the best 2-year nursing program in CUNY. HOWEVER, the nursing classes at laguardia are only offered during the day, so obviously, if you can't do day classes, stick with BMCC or one of the other schools.

Thank you for your information. Do I have to take the Nursing classes as a full time base--- 9-5 mon-fri. I can go during the day, wish to go in morning until 1pm. I need flexibility. I have 4 prereqs to take before getting into the RN Program. Is it true that we have to wait a couple of semesters before we are accepted into the program? Do you know of anyone at Laguardia I can speak with.

If I were you, I would go speak to someone in the Nursing Department about what to expect. I heard LaG has a good program...but I've have read posts (go to the NY forum) about CUNY schools being very competitive when it comes to actually applying to get into clinicals. Good luck.

Definitely talk to someone in the nursing department. I'm pretty sure, however, that the nursing portion of the program is pretty much alldayish.
