Question - Just getting started

I was reading through the threads but I did not see anyone starting this Fall 08. I will be starting this Fall 08 and would like to have any other new students join me with online chat. We will have many ups and downs. This way we can help one another.

Re: Just getting started

I plan to start at a school of nursing in fall of 08. I am still waiting on my acceptance; hence comes the nickname "hopetobe". I am not a traditional student, almost 40, although I don't feel it yet. I am a little nervous about the financial part of being in school, paying for school, etc. Any advise?

I am not quit that far yet. I still have many pre-req to complete. I will not be looking into the program until next fall 09 or so. I know things will go well. I am just starting my A&P 1 class this fall. I will not take classes this summer or maybe just one. Not sure yet. I know you will get in. Don't let age make you feel like you can't. I am a late starter and still I want this more than anything. I will be successful.

My orientation is tomorrow. Then the race is on starting Monday April 7th.

I would be interested in your online chat all the same even though you said Fall 08 is your start date.

I will tell you that I picked up my books already and wow, it's a tad bit overwhelming, 14 books. However I heard we might be able to ditch a few of them and get the money back the first week. Also some of the books will carry us through 3 semester or so before we have to buy more.

Anyways I have my scrubs out already (we have to wear them tomorrow) I feel like I'm in the first grade all over again with the new clothes/new shoes thing going on.

I"m a tad bit afraid I admit.

I am starting nursing school this Fall 2008. I use to be excited before I got my acceptance letter but now, I am more nervous! I have heard some things about the school I am attending but I can't just rely on those because I haven't attended the school yet!

But I know I will be fine....

and congrats to you for getting in!

Re: Just getting started

It sounds like most of you are attending a 4 yr BSN program, I, on the hand am planning to attend a Hopital School of Nursing 28month program. I'm a little nervous about the fact that it seems like I am a little further behind in the process. I just took the TEAS entrance exam in march and just sent in my ap. recently. Should I be stressing about this?

Re: Just getting started

I am brand new on this site...and I too am starting my pre reqs in the Fall (although I may decide to take a summer class). I am very nervous...I am 24 and have been out of school for a while. I am a mom too so I have no idea how I am going to balance all of this!

To add to it I am freaked about eventually applying for nursing school, having heard how competitive it is!

Re: Just getting started

Well, I'm starting in Fall 08 in an ADN program. I got my acceptance letter and I agree, the nerves are jumping. Cost of books!!!! whoa! Supplies!!! Clothing and shoes!!! cough! cough! Does anyone have any water...and a few thousand dollars they want to give???..lol

I'm looking forward to this though, I've been waiting since Fall 06!

Re: Just getting started

I have just completed (flourish of trumpets) Week One of my prereqs. No idea when I'll get into actual Nursing School, there's a waiting list at my cc. Somewhere along the way when I was goofing around figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up, school got a lot more complicated! Introductory Science just doesn't seem so, well....introductory. It'll be ok though. I've already survived surgical tech school, so even though this is probably ten times as hard, I'll get there. Glad to talk to any of you other new folk along the way!

Re: Just getting started

I'm starting the ADN program in Fall 08 and I say the more support the merrier. I'm more excited now than anything but talking to me again in August, I'll probably have progressed to projectile vomiting by then. I haven't even started buying my scrubs yet, heck I still have to get my physical done. I guess I should start that soon....

I started pricing books, then got so depressed I considered drinking to ease the pain. I just keep telling myself this is what I've always wanted (which it is, I just wish it was a little less expensive). One bad thing that I've done, I started doing some research on my professors online (to see what other students have to say)...Lord help me, I'm hoping these comments are from students who just slacked off because otherwise I'm in trouble.
