Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am new to allnurses, and see alot of LPN's. I am just wanting to know the significant difference between LPN and LVN. I am starting school the 21st of Aug.:icon_roll

they are the same thing. just different terms used in different areas.

I wonder why there is a different title in a few states than the rest of the country. I live in PA an they are called LPN here, but i think i would prefer LVN.

Texas and California, just GOTTA be different ;)

vocational nurse, practical nurse....all the same poop :)

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

There's always gotta be somebody that's different. California has to be right up there when it comes to odd stuff. LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) it is in California. But, it still is the same as an LPN. As Shakespeare said:

What 's in a name? That which we call a rose

By any other name would smell as sweet.

Specializes in A little of this, a little of that.....

Same thing, but CA and TX use different terms.
