women must wear stockins even if theyre buying the pants. Sometimes the hospital will make us [students] wear these dresses
That is where our school wants us to get them from too. The vest alone is $47!
Luckily I can get the pants and polo somewhere else, I found a great pair that has a flat front and drawstring for $15.00!

Re: Have you bought your Uniforms,Books, Stethoscopes...

Finally had orientation today........15 books we have to buy.....15!!! Plus 1 optional one! Not to mention the scrubs (have to be from the school), new shoes since I have to have white ones, some sort of kit that we will get when classes start. Luckily I already have my stethoscope. All this stuff is going to break my bank but I don't care because I'M IN NURSING SCHOOL!!! LOL

Yeap!!! Thats what I said, one plus is our books are going to be the books we use for the whole program. Not one semester, and your uniform you can always wear after schools over.

I will definitely wear the bottoms after school is over but our tops are embroidered with our school name.

I finally got my info packet but nothing was in there about shoes. I have plain white Birkenstocks already, the style is called Baltimore. I found them on ebay for a song a few months ago but they are so comfy I'd have gladly paid full price for them! Lots of the ppl I work with (surgical floor) wear Danskos with the closed back.

theres a whole forum on nursing gear, hands down danskos are the most popular ..probably the most comfortable. I would say about 75% of my staff wears danskos

Re: Have you bought your Uniforms,Books, Stethoscopes...

I have a suggestion to anyone still needing to get their vaccinations. If you do not have health insurance (such as myself) or it doesn't cover your vaccinations, see if you have a county health department in your area that has a "vaccination clinic" in it. I lost the record of my childhood immunizations due to a fire 2 years ago, and had only a record of my Hep B vaccines that I was able to obtain from a previous job (thank goodness they still had those in my old employee file!) My TB test was only $18 and I think I paid another 5 or so for my MMR and Tetanus, and they just filled in the date I had chickenpox as a child, thus not needing the varicella vaccine. Much cheaper than if I had scheduled a doctor's appointment and paid for these!

So
