Hello everyone! I am happy to have found this site. Everyone on here seems(for the most part) very educated and friendly, and I'm grateful for that. First of all if I am posting this in the wrong place, or if its been done a thousand times before let me apologize. I am new here and have spent 2-3 days reading threads and haven't found one exactly like mine, so here it goes lol. I am a Pre-Nursing student as of right now. I am 23 and have almost 3 years of college under my belt but never really knew what I wanted to do until about a year ago. I am trying to put together everything for my future in nursing so I can focus solely on nursing school when I get accepted(hopefully . I have all of my English classes, histories, math, electives, psychology classes, sociology classes, and math up to college level. I just finished A&p II (with an A in there as well as the first thank goodness) and I am signed up for Dosage Cal. and Med Term. this summer and Micro Biology next semester. My school offers a VERY competitive 2-year nursing program (97% NCLEX pass rate) that I hope to be entering next fall. Upon finishing the 2 year program I would like to go back and earm my B.S.N. and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as far as which classes I need to get out of the way for my B.S.N. Anything I can do now and take stress off of me later I am trying to do. Because I have been in college for a few years already I have alot of classes I will be needing, I am just not sure what others to take. I was told statistics and maybe 2 years of chemistry but I am not sure. Also any Nursing students or recent grads that could give me a few pointers on some supplies I will need I am trying to buy them little by little so It's not such a big expense all at once when I enter the program. I am abuot to order a Littmann Master Cardiology( i know its too early but after reading another thread about stethoscopes Im sold lol) I also want top get a blood pressure cuff and few other things here and there. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated! Feel free to give me ANY advice and you can email me on here anytime. Hope to hear from you guys and girls soon!

I think you're smart to spend money on a good stethoscope . That's something you'll continue to use. Don't spend much money on a BP cuff and that kind of stuff. A cheap one will do you. Our school sold specific lab sets, so don't buy too much ahead. Putting money aside for books, etc. might be useful .

Talk to the nursing advisor at your school; they should have a list of exactly what you should take. I did that and took the classes I would need to apply for a BSN while I was on the waiting list for my ADN. That was one of the best things I've done. I was able to focus on nursing classes and spent a year without any school while I adjusted to being an RN. I start RN-BSN this fall.

Thank You very much for the tips. I still need to set up an app. for advisment but I figured I would ask some of you guys first. I still have a while but its driving me crazy. I have never wanted anything more than I want this. Now its just a waiting game, and a studying game lol

Oh and good luck on the Bridge Program. If you did well getting your ADN I'm sure your work ethic is strong enough for you to do well in the fall. Keep me updated on how things go and any tips you might have because that is exactly what I am wanting to do. Thanks again

Doing my education in stages worked well for me; I have a family and I worked part-time through school, and attending my local CC was a great option.

Good luck with your advisor. Another thing that was helpful was talking to students who were a semester ahead; ones I knew from pre-reqs. They were more than willing to share syllabi (?) and other info specific to my program. Of course, I was more than happy to share with students behind me when I got there .

Hang on to your hat, it's a wild ride . But, one step at a time and eye on the prize and you'll get there. One day, you'll be getting a kick out of signing RN after your name .

Thanks for your kindness about the bridge program, I'm looking forward to it as much as I'm dreading going back to having homework again, LOL.
