I had a meeting w/ one of the schools I was accepted to and they went over all I had to buy, but never said I needed a stethoscope. I was kind of looking forward to buying one!
Do nursing programs normally provide them to students?
I hope we get to use our own. My mom bought me one for my birthday. She was in the hospital and saw some nurses wearing ultrascopes..she thought they were cute so she had one shipped to me. It is one of the best presents ever. She got me a purple one with a breast cancer ribbon and the neonatal attachment has a little stick figure nurse. The only problem is she had my name engraved on it with RN so I would have to put a little sticker over the RN part until I have earned my right to wear it proudly. It is very small though so it shouldn't be too hard to hide. I can't wait to use it!!
Yes, you will need one eventually. I bought the cheap school issued one 1st semester and a Littman the 2nd semester and in 3rd semester my littman goes w/ me everywhere at clinical.
LOL ok. I would by your own, even if they do give you one, which I am pretty sure they do not, it would problably be a cheaprer one. Go for the Littmann
