Dissecting a sheep's brain?

I'm dissecting a sheeps brain in my next A&P lab, anyone every do that?
It sounds kind cool, I'm a little excited and freaked at the same time.
What do you guys have to dissect in A&P?

Re: Dissecting a sheep's brain?

I did this 2 weeks ago and I think its so cool. We had to know where certain nerves and things were. I love lab since I learn better when I do things more hands on. I think you'll end up liking it. Next semester we are dissecting a cat. That I also look forward to lol.

I so hated the cat we just finished it last weekend. It was my nemisis. We were just thrown in with no instruction though we were given list of 60 muscles and she said have at it. We had to pin it all and label it and then do an oral practical. I did fine in the end but I dreaded going.

FYI I watched videos on youtube helped alot

Re: Dissecting a sheep's brain?

Thank heavens we never had to do a cat (my friend did and he said it was a nightmare with dried up muscles and things they had a hard time finding!)...but we did the sheep's brain and either a sheep or cow eye.....it is kind of interesting....

Sheeps brain
cow's eye

Re: Dissecting a sheep's brain?

In my A&PI lab we did: the cat (just deep and superficial muscles) ; the Sheep's brain, and a Cow's eye. The Cat and Cow were pretty easy cause most the muscles are kind of the same as humans, but I hated the Sheep's brain, because it was smaller, and we also had a real brain to look at and identify, but we didn't actually dissect it.
