Help! - Confirmatory tests for Pseudomonas fluorescens (unknown)

Hi Everyone,

I need some help. Our teacher requires us to do 2 confirmatory tests to confirm our unknown once we think we know what it is. I have had a lot of problems with all of my tests and she thinks mine may be contaminated. She pretty much gave me the answer to what mine is and even gave me other students cultures that had the same unknown as me (since she thinks mine are contaminated) and she wants me to run 2 confirmatory tests but I can't find any to do. I have done:
Oxidase
Glucose oxidized
Growth at 40 degrees
Litmus milk
Fluorescents test (where you hold it under uv light and see if it glows) But the last 3 are not coming out right please tell me what other tests I can do. Thanks!

Re: Confirmatory tests for Pseudomonas fluorescens (unknown)

Perhaps you could test for hemolytic activity. I believe Psedumonas Fluorescens produces hemolysins; however, I do not know whether it's alpha or beta. Also, did you do a Gram stain?

I'm leaving in an hour to go take my microbiology final exam. I can't wait to get this class over with!!!

Good luck.

Thanks Reneeann25. I did do a gram test and capsule test sorry I forgot to mention those. I will ask my teacher if we have the hemolysis test available. Good luck on your final, ours is in 2 weeks, I can't wait!
