Had to vent...lol
Check Amazon and Half.com for cheaper copies of your books. If you order from Amazon or one of their Marketplace sellers, be sure to pick expedited shipping if you need it within a week or so. Also, check eBay and see if anyone is selling a used copy of your book(s). I got my Chem books on eBay and saved $100!

Re: Chem Spring 2008

I'm in, too. I did Fundamentals of Chemistry last semester, and I'm doing Chem I this semester. For those of you taking Chem for the first time, here's my 2 cents: Do EVERY homework problem your professor recommends. Also, go to your textbook's website and sign up for the online tests, tools, etc. There's no penalty for messing up a problem online (because it's just for your own learning benefit), and you just might see the same problem on a test! I know I did. One other thing: write up your labs as soon after you do them as you can. That way, the lab is fresh in your mind. Make sure you have your lab partner(s)'s email or cell number, in case you forget to write down a piece of data during the lab.

Good luck to one and all!

Had my first class today....I think i'm going to like the instructor for this class. She has a lot of energy which will help to keep things interesting.

I have my first Chem class tonight along with lab. Kind of nervous! An online study group would be great!

Re: Chem Spring 2008

Well, had my first Chem class along with my first lab Tuesday evening. The instructor seems like she will be good. There are other people in the class which have never taken chemistry before either like myself so that makes me feel better.

The lab was kind of difficult because they had us do so much stuff!! We had to do some graph and statistical analysis on a computer and use the metric system!! We had not even gone over these things in lecture yet (because it was our first night) and we had to apply things that we had not learned yet (conversion factors) which we are supposed to go over during Thursday's lecture.) She states she is not going to grade very hard on it though because she knows this

I hope the rest of the class is not going to be like this.

That's what I'm afraid of Kristi - I start next Weds nite and I'm afraid that I'll be behind before we even start! Hopefully my class will be like yours and have students like me that have never taken chemistry before either. Good Luck!

Re: Chem Spring 2008

Chem is pretty stressful for my right now. I've studied about 12 hours this week and I feel like I haven't gotten the grasp on nomenclature still! We have to memorize polyatomic ions, families, and conversions, soo stressful!

Annie
Which Chem are you taking? I'm guessing a hire level than i am. I'm in basic chem and we started on coversion factors, measurements, etc. I hope all goes well for you. Hang in there!!

Had my first lab tonight. We watched a "safety" video......had to laugh at what they were showing on there. LOL but I know that they have to show it....

Re: Chem Spring 2008

I'm taking Chem in the spring as well, but the way my school's schedule goes, I don't start until March. Someone in my psych class is taking the Chem in a 6 week session (yikes!), so I've flipped through the syllabus and so on. I'll definitely be hanging around here once Chem starts in the spring..
