The question is What dosage in grams per kilogram of body weight does a 130bl woman receive if she takes two 250mg tablets of penicillin? How many 125mg tablets should a 40lb child take to recieive the same dosage?
Okay Love316 this is how we solved a simular problem in my CHEM class. I'm assuming that the dosage is in mg's
You need to get rid of lbs so you start with
130 lbs X
1 kg X
Xmg = 500 mg
---------2.205lb 1 kg
The lbs cross out and the kg's cross out and now you just solve for X.
I got 58.9.X = 500 mg
X= 8.48 mg plugged in it is =499.9 =500.
If doing for the child I think you just plug it in.
40 lbs X
1 kg X
8.48 = X
mg
---------2.205 1 kg 125mg p/tablet
I got 154 mg divided by 125 mg = 1.23 tablets
The spaces are not showing the fractions: 1 kg should be over 2.205 lbs and Xmg should be over 1 kg.
I hope this helps and I hope this is right. I'm going to have my professor look this over tomorrow.
