I'll be taking Chem, too. I start Sep 4, and I am also taking Anat and College Algebra. I am nervous about Chem... this support thread is a great idea!
Well I guess I am joining the group too! I am taking Gen Chem, First Aid and Safety, Concepts of Foundation in Professional Practice, and Intro to Research. So lets hit the ground running folks!
I'm registered to take A&P I and II and Chemistry. The chem course is Thur. with a Tue. lab from Sept to Dec. The A&P courses are accelerated (Mon/Wed ea. with lecture and lab): A&P I--Sept to Oct., A&PII--Oct. to Dec. I work a full-time job and everyone says I'm crazy to do three courses in the space of one semester. I've never taken chemistry and my algebra is ok but not great. Any advice on whether I should go through with my plans or drop the A&P courses and just get the chemistry out of the way? My main concern is not having time to do homework for my Wed. A&P classes due to my Tue. chem lab. My hope was to begin nursing school full-time in spring 2009 (accelerated BSN), but that's not written in stone. These will be my first pre-nursing courses.
Thanks, and good luck everyone!!
Craig
Hi Craig,
I volunteer right now on a L&D floor and in talking with the nurses about my schedule they all said Anatomy is hard because it is time consuming and for you to take a year long class and put it into a semester along with Chem and working full time may-be pushing it. I guess you would just have to see how the first class goes and if you remember things easily it could work. But I think it is alot and I have backed down on my load due to their recommendations.
I just posted this in another thread but I thought I would post here too.
Anyone in the same boat??
I just started my prereq's and I'm taking math 40 and chemistry at the same time.
Is that taking on too much?? Should I get a better math foundation before starting Chem. Any opinions or advise on this would be greatly appreciated. After one class I'm thinking of dropping it because I'm worried about the calculations.
It's been so many years since I took Chem that I'm taking Introductory Chemistry this semester before starting Chem I in the Spring. Classes start Sept. 4. I got As in chem and advanced chem in high school, but back then, I had a tyrannosaurus as a lab partner!

Suggestions Please!!!
what type of math is math 40? if its general algebra you should be fine. the calculations in chem are totally different.and they are pretty easy once you get it down. i took a prep chem class not long ago and that is basically all we did was the math in it
Well I started Chem and we are learning basic conversions into the metric system and within the metric system. Lots of HW but the instructor seems helpful.
I will be taking Intro to Chem and A&P I starting Sep 4. I am a little nervous about taking two lab sciences together but am really excited because I will be that much closer to ns!
