Question - Biology while I wait?

Hi all, I am applying to clinicals this December for the 4th time and I was thinking about getting an Associates' degree in Biology while I wait. I have been taking classes like Speech and Computer Concepts online over and over in order to stay enrolled in school while I wait on acceptance. There are also other options that won't require many more classes like: Phlebotomy, MLT, Dialysis Tech. Question is: are any of you getting any degrees while you wait? and will this be a good idea for me?

I would take classes that would help you get another degree rather than taking something that is just keeping you enrolled - Just for that Plan "B"... Phlebotomy is a good choice....gets you a little closer to your dream!!

I strongly agree. If you are going to be investing time and money on taking classes, choose courses that will advance your career. By taking the BSN prerequisite courses and general education courses, you'll save yourself time and money in the long run.

Re: Biology while I wait?

Thank you very much for the advice, I have one more class to take to earn a certificate in Phlebotomy but unfortunately I go to a community college so I cannot begin working on my BSN so I will finish that class and enroll in the Phlebotomy clinicals and continue to apply for Nursing School

Oh you sure can work on your BSN while at a CC! I know, I'm doing it!
I am in a similar boat, taking classes as i waited to hear about my ADN program ( I just got in!) I had 2 semesters with nothing left to do as an applicant. So what I did is researched the BSN programs I would like to complete once I am an RN, got their core requirements and started working on those at the CC. Each school has different core requirements and maybe about 5 could be attained thru the CC while I waited.
Example:
BSN #1 school wants:
statistics
religion/ or ethics
o-chem
2 history
2 fine arts
While my adn program requires none of these classes. So this semester and summer semester I have taken these classes at the CC to be applied to my BSN degree once I'm ready to start! Use your time wisely, you'll be less resentful with the "wasted classes" I know I am!
