We have that too for the actual ADN program, right now I'm declared as a Liberal Arts major (for financial aid etc.) and taking the pre/co req's. No big orientation for me!....

Exclamation Offtopic...

Ok I know this is an post but....

The other day I we had a book buy back session going on...well I was kind of in the urgent need of gas money (who doesn't at these prices right?) so I decided to sell back my gen ed's books. I am keeping all the science one though. So anyhow, I get there (mind you these are only 1 or 2 semesters old an immaculate condition) and the man tell me all he can give me is $5.00 for some and $9.00 for the other

The cheapest one was $65.00 and the other was $100.00+ original price. I did sell them but then I was feeling terrible. He told me that they were considered old books. That he could give me $15.00 if they were current and hardcover. Unbelievable. I have actually tried amazon.com half.com and ebay, but everytime I go I never find a used book for cheap. All I find is new condition for a few dollars less (which shipping usually makes up for the rest).

Just wanted to share my experience with you

Yeah I had the same experience. They really get one over on us don't they? They know students are usually scrapped for cash and will take what they can get. And the excuse he gave you about the books being old is just a crock because if they weren't still using them they wouldn't take the books at all. So they give us one or two bucks for them and resell them back to the next schmuck for a few dollars less than the price of it new! College...you gotta love it!

Invest in highlighters--lots of colors!!! Find a backpack w/wheels if you can--save your back.

If you can get some books, start previewing!!!

Don't know how old your kids are, can you teach them to do laundry? What about cooking--get some quick dinners organized--ingredients on hand, etc. Get your house in order, too. If you can get ahead now, you won't feel so frantic later on. OOO, I know-get some Christmas shopping done. Stash the gifts w/a friend or relative.

Good luck!

I hear you on the book buy back. I paid almost $200 for my Statistics book and when I went to sell it back I got the ole nope sorry we aren't using that book anymore. Same for my $130 Human Dev. Psych book.

LOL I sneaked around a bit.

Seems my college has a bookstore on line- run by some not- affiliated for profit store. My campus did not have the a/p I listed, but another campus's site did. I called the bookstore and confirmed that the 2 a/p and 1 psych are the ones I need.

Now i'm just busy searching on line for the "best deal"...

I hate buy backs. One time I was offered ONE whole dollar for a book.
I think I need to get into the textbook profession!

which school??

First of all Brandy, Congratulations on registering for classes. :hatparty:

Have you been actually accepted into the ADN program and then have to complete your prereqs? or are you starting with prereqs then have to apply to ADN program once completed? Usually like Boonersmom wrote you would definetly have an orientation before school starts. If you answered yes to the first question...I would like the name of that school for a friend of mine. I think all schools should do that. Let me know.

Ps. I had to do it the second way...prereqs first, then application and teas test to get in..after sweating bullets...and playing the waiting game..I start this September.

I wish you all the best either way.
